Try our sweet corn with NEW Natural III seed coating!
Organic growers, particularly those in regions with cool, wet springs, sometimes find that their sweet corn seed rots in the field. Rotting occurs because the sugar in each corn kernel is as attractive to fungi present in the soil as it is to our own discriminating palates. Corn seeds growing in cold, wet soils, are also at much higher risk of fungal decay because they’re growing more slowly, meaning that there is a longer window during which the seeds are susceptible to fungal attack. We now offer an organically-suitable alternative to the chemical fungicides commonly used to prevent rotting of sweet corn seeds—a new seed treatment called Natural III.
Natural III is a registered organic seed treatment from AgriCoat and contains beneficial microbes, macro and micronutrients, vitamins and minerals. This blend helps seeds resist fungal attack by enhancing root growth and nutrient uptake by the germinating seed. It helps provide more consistent control of damping-off and other soil diseases. The active ingredient, a biological fungicide, colonizes the root system and protects against harmful fungi, ultimately resulting in better stands and higher yields. Natural III is now available as a film coating for all of our hybrid and OP sweet corn varieties
