An Indoor Seed Starting Workshop for the Home Gardener
To some, starting seeds indoors seems intimidating, but with some simple techniques and inexpensive start-up supplies, you can easily build a seed starting workstation and get your favorite varieties started indoors with minimal effort. Why take the time, you ask, when you can more easily buy seedlings from a garden center or a farm-stand plant sale?
The benefit of starting your own seeds is that:
- you can choose varieties that work well for your specific growing conditions,
- you can choose from a much wider selection including rare or exotic varieties that are often not found at the traditional plant sales, and
- you can start your seeds when the timing is exactly right for you.
thanks, However I am encountering troubles with your RSS. I don't understand the
reason why I cannot subscribe to it. Is there anybody
else having identical RSS problems? Anybody who knows the solution will you kindly respond?
Thanks!!

You can try this article by one of our staff: http://www.highmowingseeds.com/blog/companion-planting-utilize-natures-diversity-to-improve-the-health-of-your-garden/ This has some good info on what to plant with what! As far as what they do for the soil - let us look around a bit more and we'll get back to you if we have some succinct info.
Hit one of the 'check it out' sites like Snopes and you will see it is ALL crap that has gotten started by a few nut cases.
If you look the White House has a garden that is using some heirloom seeds and other goodies.
Also we do not have sources for GMO seeds for many of the veggie crops we grow in our gardens. Most GMO is for commercial and crops like wheat, alfalfa, soybeans and some SUGAR beets....not your average garden crops!
And there are food "safety" proposals (not bans) that could affect back yard growers. Does that mean the government is going to come rip out your plants if you are growing them for personal use? No. What if you have a roadside stand? Maybe.
Just because the white house does it, doesn't mean they're sanctioning it for the masses. The hypocrites in power have already proven many times that what is good for the goose isn't always allowed for the gander.
