Tomato Grafting Workshop , 2 – 3 pm Join Paul Betz, owner of High Ledge Farm in Woodbury, for a hands-on lesson in grafting tomatoes. Tomato grafting can offer the advantage of greater plant vigor, higher yields and greater disease resistance coupled with the great flavor of your favorite tomato varieties. This hands-on workshop will give participants will get a chance to practice grafting techniques. Spinach & Winter Greens High Tunnel Trials , 3:15 – 4 pm Join Tom Stearns, founder & president of High Mowing Organic Seeds for an overview of the spinach and other greens varieties planted in our NRCS high tunnel. Tour of High Mowing Organic Seeds, 4:15 – 5 pm Tom Stearns will lead an informative and informal tour of the seed warehouse, packing facility, testing lab and seed mill. Potluck dinner, Networking & Slideshow, 5 – 6:30 pm Please bring a dish or drink to share, as well as your own plate, cup and utensils to reduce waste from the event. Or, just bring yourself. Don’t let your lack of a potluck item stop you from joining us at this relaxed, informational event. Stick around to share good food and network with fellow growers. A colorful slideshow will offer a virtual tour of High Mowing Organic Seeds’ production farm, trials gardens and a selection of outstanding varieties. The Spring Social will be held at the High Mowing Organic Seeds warehouse located at 76 Quarry Road in Wolcott, Vermont. We are just off Rte 15, across from the Fisher Covered Bridge, between Wolcott and Hardwick. *Please note that we are not a retail store and cannot fill orders during the Spring Social. However, we will have a retail seed rack with garden-size packets available for purchase.
