Very dark green, glossy leaves are deeply divided and have an upright habit. Best quality in early spring and late fall into winter. The name derives from that of an island on which 17th century Portuguese sailors survived the winter due to this little plant. Rich in Vitamin C, calcium, iron, and especially Vitamin A.
