Oats Cover Crop  Organic Oats - Sow oats in spring for a grain crop or as a nurse crop for clovers and field peas (field peas/oats mix available below). Sow in late summer as a cover crop that will winter kill at about 15°F, leaving thick roots to hold the soil and mats of straw mulch, or undersow in late summer in between corn and bean rows. Seeding rate: 90 lbs/acre, 3-4 lbs/1,000 sq ft.(Avena sativa)
