It was the best of times; it was the wettest of times. Yes, our field day was once again rained out -  but this did not stop over 300 people from attending a day of tours, workshops and great food. The day started out with specialized trial garden walks with guest speakers Erica Renaud from Vitalis Organic Seeds and Jan Van der Heide from Bejo Seeds. Vitalis and Bejo have been supplying High Mowing Organic Seeds with some of the highest quality varieties available in our catalog. There were ongoing trial walks throughout the day, seed saving workshops and a pest and disease walk. High Mowing’s very own Holly Simpson held vegetable fermentation workshops, and The New England Culinary Institute provided the Local Foods Showcase with all ingredients provided from local purveyors. Culinary students passed exquisite hors d’ourves while guests strolled in the gardens, there was an ongoing corn roast all day with flavor butters available, and the main meal consisted of many cheeses, small dishes, salads, and specialty sandwiches and deserts that had everyone lining up for more. A great time was had by all, and THANK YOU so much to everyone who helped make it possible!
