As you begin to make your growing plans for 2022, we want you to know you are not alone. The High Mowing team has dedicated time, effort and creativity to ensuring that we will have seed for our growers this spring and we will continue to do our very best to keep seed available for those who need it. For information regarding any new or ongoing changes that we have made to procedures, read our Covid-19 FAQ’s below.

Is High Mowing still open?
Yes we are. We will remain open and operational while doing our part to continue practicing social distancing and other safety measures. As an essential provider of an agricultural service, we appreciate your support and patience as we continue to adapt our operations and navigate significant increases in orders and web activity.
What has HMS done to ensure that I will have seed for my garden or farm?
Whave been proactive in our response to the seed shortages and delays we experienced in the Spring of 2020. We have added storage space and brought in more seed overall to reduce any transportation issues that may come up as the winter season unfolds. We have packed more seed earlier than ever before as a way of taking pressure off the Seed Packing team in the height of our sales season. We have also built the network for second shifts and have trained existing staff to be in lead positions when we need to move to two shifts, to ensure timely packing and delivery of ordered seed.
Why are so many varieties Out of Stock?
As demand from across the seed industry continues to rise, we are carefully monitoring our seed inventory to help our growers navigate the seed availability issues they are experiencing due to the pandemic. As a result, we are changing some of our normal procedures to better coordinate and communicate our available inventory to our growers. If an item is listed as Out of Stock it means it is not currently available and is not likely to come back into stock until next growing season. When we don’t have a firm delivery date for a variety, we will designate it as Temporarily Out of Stock, and assign it a Return to Stock Estimated Date based on the best and most current information available to us. Items listed as Temporarily Out of Stock are not ready to ship, but we expect to fill existing orders for these items in the near future, based on the Return to Stock Estimated Date. This Return to Stock Estimated Date is subject to change. You can find the latest list of Out of Stock varieties, Temporarily Out of Stock varieties, and Return to Stock Estimated Dates here. If you have already ordered a variety that had a Back Order date and is now listed as Out of Stock, we will be in touch with the most up to date information regarding when we anticipate the variety will be ready to ship. Looking for more information on what Out of Stock items have become available recently?  Please visit our Back in Stock page. We appreciate your patience as we do our best to have the most accurate information regarding our available seed inventory. We appreciate your patience as we do our best to have the most accurate information regarding our available seed inventory.
What is High Mowing doing differently as a result of Covid-19?
In addition to actively following the recommendations outlined by the centers for disease control & prevention and vermont’s health department, our staff have developed and implemented enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols, including daily processes designed to reduce the risk of contamination. We are working with our staff to help them stay up-to-date and well-informed about what is going on nationally, locally, and within our own warehouse. We are encouraging our employees to take extra precautions including frequently washing their hands, working from home when possible, isolating office spaces, and staying home as appropriate and if so, we are continuing their pay for their isolation period. We are temporarily eliminating the option for customers to pick-up their seed order at our warehouse in Wolcott, VT in order to minimize risk of exposure.
What is the turnaround time for my order?
Our shipping turnaround time for items that are packed and ready to ship is currently from 1-3 days of order placement. If you have already placed an order with us, it is being processed and you will receive a notification when it ships. Please note, USPS, FedEx and UPS are all experiencing an increase in delivery times due to high volume; please consult your tracking number and allow extra time for your package to arrive.
Why didn't I receive everything I ordered?
Some items may be backordered or out of stock, you can find lists of all backordered and oos items on our website.    We will email out of stock notices as quickly as we are able. Variety substitutions, refunds, or credits to your High Mowing account are all options in the case of an out-of-stock item on your order. High Mowing credit does not expire and can be used for any of our products. Items that have not shipped due to their back order status will ship once they have been accepted into our facility and have passed their Quality Control inspection.

Is High Mowing going to stay open?
While we can't predict what the future might bring for our privately owned seed company or even our local region here in Northern Vermont, we have every intention of staying open and continuing our essential agricultural service for the growers of North America. In the event that additional safety measures must be made to help protect our staff, we will communicate changes to operations and order fulfillment immediately.
