I'd love to grow melons, but we have a fairly short growing season (zone 5/6). Perhaps getting them out sooner and keeping them longer in the fall would make it possible.

Since we are moving to Colorado, this would be ideal to test out some flowers seeds, and greens, in attempts to extend our growing season. I guess it all depends on how soon or not it snows.

I got this email after i finish sowing, spinach, collard, turnips, brussel sprouts, and cabbage. The squash I planted for the summer got wrecked by vine borers, I had bt bt I didn't know it expired. Hopefull the new bt will keep the caterpillars away and Ill get a successful harvest.

with all the rain we got upstate ny, i could have used the covers as an umbrella. i pulled garlic out of mud. very small but at least i did get them. a neighbors rotted in the ground. mine were 1/2 the size as usual. i'm grateful all the same. fingers crossed for next year

I had not been able to garden because of back and leg injuries but having had surgery and due to lack of work ability as well, have returned to my textile arts which incorporate all natural dyes and now, eco-printing with specific known foliage that is dye-fast! With your prize I can extend the growing season here in Zone 7 with dyeplants and foliage that are already threatening to end their season. I am so inspired and hope one day to have a greenhouse so I can create and produce year-round. I would LOVE to win this! I've been after the hubby to build a cold frame but...it's still not completed, lol. So this would come in handy to help extend our garden! Would love to start my garden early to maybe be able to avoid some of the terrible insects I had to deal with this year. Didn't get hardly any squash this year due to the stink bugs and aphids eating away. Since I don't like to use harsh chemicals, picking them off just didn't help. So I have read if you start your garden early it will help with this problem.

I could definitely extend my growing season here in NC. It does get pretty cold here and I would love to be able grow veggies longer and sooner. I love all the greens in the mix but am new to radishes. Haven't grown them yet.
