What does M stand for?

M is the Roman numeral abbreviation for 1,000. M = 1,000 seeds. MM= 1,000,000 seeds.

Do you ship internationally?

At this time, we only ship orders to the United States and Canada. We cannot process other international orders. Please click here to read about our policies related to Canadian shipments.

My browser doesn't support secure pages. Can I still order with you?

If your browser doesn't support secure pages, you can view all the content on our website, but you cannot place an order.  To order, you must have a web browser that supports secure pages (indicated by the prefix "https:" in the URL bar). This is for the security of the information transmitted electronically when an order is placed.  If you are unable to view secure pages, you may place your order via phone, mail, or fax.

How do I use a discount code?

If you have a discount code you would like applied to your purchase, you may enter it when prompted on the checkout page prior to payment. Please note that discount codes are limited to one use per customer, and may not be applied in combination with any other discount codes including a CSS code.

Can I purchase a gift certificate for High Mowing Organic Seeds?

Yes, gift certificates can be purchased in any amount and are sent to the recipient via email if purchased through our website. To have a gift certificate sent via USPS, please call us at 866-735-4454.

Does High Mowing Donate Seed?

High Mowing proudly engages in charitable donations through our Seed Donation Program, amounting to over 100,000 seed packets donated annually. These seeds go to communities all over the country and support organizations such as community gardens, school gardens, church gardens, food bank gardens, summer camps, seed libraries and disaster relief groups. Adobe Acrobat opened my download. Now what?

Now that the file you selected is open and viewable in your .pdf reader application, you can elect to save the file onto your hard drive or disk, print the file, or copy the file to paste in another file or program. Utilize the appropriate buttons on the toolbar at the top of the page or select the appropriate features from the menus. Consult the Help section of the application for more information.

I found broken links, pictures that won't open, or other problems on the site. What should I do?

If you've found errors on our website, please report them to the Webmaster. We are constantly maintaining and updating the site, and we greatly appreciate your help in alerting us to errors and oversights. As the users of our site, you are the best proofreaders we have!

Once I've started an order, can I come back to it at a later time?

Only if you logged into the site before shopping. Logging into the site allows you to add items to your cart and come back at a later date to retrieve them. You will need to log back into the site again when you return.  

Can I expedite my order?

To expedite any order please do not place your order on our website. Please call us at 866-735-4454 to speak with a customer service representative. Cutoff times for overnight or 2-day shipping are 12pm EST.

Can I visit High Mowing?

Thanks so much for your interest in seeing our operations! However, we are not currently offering tours at this time.  We have special events throughout the year where we offer tours, so please check our website for future dates!

Do you have a retail location?

No, we do not have a retail storefront. However, we can occasionally coordinate a 'no contact' pick up at our warehouse under specific circumstances. If you're interested in finding out if this might be an option for you, please give us a call at (866) 735-4454. Otherwise, you can find a retail store near you that carries our seed by clicking HERE.

Can I change an order after I've submitted it?

We strive for efficiency in our order process, which means orders may be invoiced quickly. If an order has entered fulfillment and been invoiced, we are not able to make changes to it. If you need to change an order, please contact us as soon as possible at 866-735-4454, and we will do our best to meet your requests.  

What is a backordered item? And what is your policy regarding backorders?

A backordered item is an item that is not currently available, but we expect it to be ready for shipping by the date listed next to the item.  Due to unexpected circumstances, these backordered items can get delayed.  If a backordered item gets delayed we will notify our customers via email.  You can learn more about backordered items here.  If you have more questions about specific backordered items, please call us at 866-735-4454.

Will OOS items come back in stock?

Once an item goes out of stock, it is not likely to come back in stock until the next growing season.  Our website is the best place to check for the most up-to-date information about available stock. Items listed as Temporarily Out of Stock are not ready to ship, but we expect to fill existing orders for these items in the near future, based on the Return to Stock Estimated Date. What seeds will work best for my growing region?

When will I get the new catalog?

Our new catalog comes out annually in early November. You should receive it by the beginning of December. If you haven’t yet signed up to receive a hard copy of our catalog, you can do so by clicking HERE.

When do you ship garlic?

You might have noticed that we are not selling garlic in our Organic Seed Catalog and it is no longer available here on our website. We are taking this strategic break to try and address some underlying issues that have made offering high quality, organic seed garlic challenging. Read more about this decision here.

When do you ship potatoes?

All potato orders ship on or before April 15th.

Do you sell onion sets, plant starts or compost?

We do not sell onion sets or plant starts. We do sell two sizes of an all purpose compost-based potting mix: Vermont Compost Company Fort Vee potting mix 20 Quart Bag and Vermont Compost Company Fort Vee Potting Mix 2 Yard Sling Bag.

Why do I need an account to place an order?

You do not need an account to place an order with us. If you would like to check out as a guest, you can select that option during your order placement process. However, there are advantages to creating an account with us, including being able to view orders from year to year, redeeming credit, and allowing us to better help you when you need ordering assistance.

How do I make an account?

What is High Mowing’s return policy? 

At High Mowing Organic Seeds, we want all of our customers to be fully satisfied with the quality of both our seed and our service. If you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, please let us know and we will promptly offer to replace your purchase or credit your account.

Limitation of Liability:

In keeping with the custom of the seed trade, High Mowing Organic Seeds shall not be liable for more than the purchase price of the seed. High Mowing Organic Seeds does not cover return shipping costs. All special orders are non-refundable.

I received the wrong product. How can I get my order corrected?

Your satisfaction is important to us, so we want to hear from you when we make mistakes. If you have received an order in error, please let us know by calling 866-735-4454 and we will do our best to correct it.

How do you store seeds?

Seeds are best stored in a cool, dark and dry place.  Read morehereabout how we store our seeds at High Mowing, and how long specific varieties will remain viable if stored properly.

Do you charge at the time the order is placed?  What about backordered items?

We charge in full for the order at the time it is placed, including backordered items.  If an item goes out of stock, we will be in touch.

How many seeds come in a packet?

The seed amounts will vary per packet.  We sell some by seed count, which are indicated by an “M”=1,000 seeds.  Other seeds are sold by weight.  Our seed specs are available on our Planting Chart.  Usually there is a one ounce or gram average that would need to be divided, i.e. by 32 for the 1/32 size, and so on.
