Open-Pollinated Tomatoes

Open-pollinated tomatoes are varieties whose "mother" plant will produce seeds that can be saved and will have identical characteristics to the original mother plant. These varieties are pollinated by wind, insects or the grower themselves and are selected and developed through traditional breeding methods. While all heirloom tomatoes are open pollinated, not all open-pollinated tomatoes are considered heirlooms.
